Hal Gill is an American defenseman on the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Gill was drafted in 1993 by the Boston Bruins. He played his college career for the Providence Friars. He joined the Bruins in 1997, playing 68 games in his rookie career. At 6'7, Gill is one of the tallest defensemen in the league and is a powerful force in front of the net. He has proven to be highly effective at shutting down opponents' superstars with his long reach and large frame.
Gill was signed by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2006 and was traded to the Penguins at the trade deadline of the 2007-08 season.
Gill has played for Team USA at the World Championships four times.
