Fernando Gonzalez has made a name for himself in the world of Tennis through his hard-hitting forehand. It is because of this skill that Fernando Gonzalez was aptly and fondly called “Stone Hand”. He is also known in another nickname, the “La Reina Bomber”. However, no matter what nickname Fernando Gonzalez may have, one thing is clear, this man has talent.

He debuted as a professional tennis player in the year 1999 and throughout the course of his career he has been able to defeat many former number-one players in Tennis. The top players Fernando Gonzalez has defeated included Andy Roddick, Pete Samprass, Juan Carlos Ferrero and Gustavo Kuerten to name a few. He has even defeated number-one players while they were still at the top spot including Andre Agassi, Lleyton Hewitt and Roger Federer.

When Fernando Gonzalez debuted as a professional tennis player in 1999, he started quite well but still remained unnoticed in the majority’s eyes. It was in the year 2000 that Fernando Gonzalez increased in popularity when he won his first ATP Singles title. One spectacular highlight in Fernando Gonzalez’s career was in 2004 when he was able to win two Olympic medals during the 2004 Olympics held in Athens. He won the gold medal in the Doubles tournament together with Massú and a bronze medal in the Singles tournament. The year earlier, Fernando Gonzalez was present the Chilean National Sports Awards by none other than the president of Chile.

Fernando Gonzalez made a lot of first-time achievements all throughout his career. Due to his strong performance in Tennis, he was able to land the number 5 spot, the highest rank he attained in the Singles circuit on January 29, 2007. His performance in the Doubles circuit is equally excellent to match, landing himself the number 25 spot, the highest rank attained by him on July 4, 2005. In the year 2008, Fernando Gonzalez experienced several setbacks that made his ATP ranking fall several places back. However, after winning his 10th ATP title in Munich at the BMW Open, Fernando Gonzalez bounced right back up the tennis rankings.

With 10 Singles career titles, 3 Doubles career titles, a first-time all round qualifier for four Grand Slams and two Olympic Medals, Fernando Gonzalez can still be considered at the top of his Tennis career.
