Patty Schnyder has made Switzerland proud of her continuous satisfactory performance that brought her to rank 16 presently. The love of the sport and the inspiration given to her by her husband and coach Rainer Hofmann always give her room to more improvements.

She turned tennis pro in August 1994 at the age of 16. Patty is a well-rounded individual who is also inclined to sports like skiing, billiards, golf and football. For leisure and relaxation, she finds it fun to deal with photo play computer.

Recently, although she ended as a first runner up at Berlin after being defeated by Dushevina, she enjoyed being in the quarter finals in Rome as she defeated no.8 seed Bartoli and pulled Sharapova down to no.2.

Patty reached second runner up in 2008 during the Australian Open. She then finished 2007 with 3 more grand slams being third runner up in the US Open, fourth runner up in Roland Garros, Wimbledon and in the Australian Open among others. In November 14, 2005, she made her career high for singles and ranked number 7 and in June 6, 2005 her career for doubles skyrocketed as made it to top 15.

Her great two-handed backhand play paid her 10 career singles titles. In 2005, she was victorious in Gold Coast and Concinnati tournaments. By the year 2002 she won in Zurich and Pattaya City in 2001. Again at the Gold Coast, she performed winning title in 1999. Five of her other singles titles were all captured in 1998 at Hobart, Hannover, Madrid, Maria Lankowitz and Palermo.

For doubles, she won two titles for indoors at Paris in 2004 and 2003. She also won two more titles for doubles at Antwerp in 2002 and in Hamburg in 1998 plus 47 grand slams record!

Moreover, she has been part of the Swiss Fed Cup Team in 1996-98, in 2000, 2002 thru 2004. Also in 1996, 2000 and 2004 that she made it in the Swiss Olympic Team. Among her several other achievements are as follows, defeated Austrian Regional Champion Patrick Mayr in the Battle of the Sexes match in Austria and was also awarded as the 1998 Sony Ericsson Tour Most Improved Player.
