Shannon Bobbitt was born on December 6, 1985 to Anthony and Linda Bobbitt. She has seven siblings: Anthony Jr., Tyrone, Stevie, Eugene, Shareese, Christopher, and Jennifer (now deceased).
High School
Shannon attended St. Raymond's as a tenth grader, then moved to Murry Bergtraum High School in New York, where she helped to lead her team to two straight PSAL and State Federation titles. She averaged 13 points and eight assists per game. She was a finalist for the 2004 McDonald's All-America team.
Shannon accomplished all of this despite the fact that she was only 5 ft 2.
Junior College
Shannon received her associate degree and graduated from Trinity Valley in June 2006. She was then recruited by Pat Summitt for the University of Tennessee.
University
Shannon majored in psychology at Tennessee. She played for two years for the Lady Vols under head coach Pat Summitt, who recruited players from the Junior College ranks for the first time since 1977. Shannon was also the shortest player ever recruited by Pat Summitt. Shannon led the Lady Vols to two NCAA national championships.
WNBA
Shannon was the 15th pick in the 2008 WNBA draft, chosen first in the 2nd round by the Los Angeles Sparks. She joins teammate and former teammate Sidney Spencer on the Los Angeles team.
