Crystal attended the University of Maryland, majoring in communications. She was a member of the Leader's Club, and served as a team representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (S.A.A.C.).
She played basketball for the Terrapins under coach Brenda Frese. She is the first player in the University's history to score 2,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds -- for either the men's or women's teams -- and only the 106th women's college basketball player to do so.
