Candice was born to parents Alan and Angela Wiggins. Alan Wiggins played baseball for the Baltimore Orioles. He retired and the family moved to San Deigo. He died when Candice was four years old. Candice has a brother, Alan, Jr. who plays baseball in Germany.

High School

Candice attended La Jolla Country Day School in La Jolla, California. She excelled in several sports -- volleyball, track, and basketball, winning letters in both volleyball and basketball. She led La Jolla Country Day to the state championship game in each of her four seasons, which they won twice. She also captained the United States Junior National Team that won gold.

Candice maintained a 3.8 grade point average during high school. She chose Stanford over Duke and UCLA because she felt the combination of academics and athletics at Stanford were the best combination in the country.

University

Candice attended Stanford University from 2004 to 2008, majoring in Communications. She played basketball for the Stanford Cardinal under coach Tara VanDerveer.

WNBA

Candice Wiggins was the number #3 pick in the 2008 WNBA draft, behind Candace Parker and Sylvia Fowles. She was chosen by the Minnesota Lynx.
