Jon Dahl Tomasson is a Danish international striker currently featuring for the Spanish side Villarreal. He usually plays as a striker but he has played as an attacking midfielder in his career too.
Jon Dahl Tomasson began his professional football career with Danish club Køge BK in 1992 and moved to Dutch club Heerenveen in 1994 when he was just 18 years of age. After scoring 37 goals in 78 appearances for the club in three seasons, he was snapped up by Premiership side Newcastle United in 1997 but he lasted just one terrible season at St. James' Park and was on his move to Dutch giants Feyenoord.
It was at Feyenoord where Dahl Tomasson earned cult status in his native Denmark and where he truly came into prominence in the world football radar. In his four years at Feyenoord between 1998 and 2002, the Danish international striker scored 54 goals in 122 matches and won the UEFA Cup with the club 2002.
At the end of the 2001-2002 season, John Dahl Tomasson was signed by Italian giants AC Milan with whom he won the UEFA Champions League in 2003. But Tomasson could never thread into a regular starting position for Milan and was transferred to German Bundesliga side VFB Stuttgart in 2005.
Tomasson has been at Villarreal since the start of the 2007-2008 season.
John Dahl Tomasson is considered as the best striker Denmark has produced in years. He was awarded the 2002 and 2004 Danish Player of the Year honours. He has been a Danish international since 1997 and has featured in 98 matches scoring 51 goals, making him the second most scoring player in Danish national team history.
