Luis Amaranto Perea is a Colombian international footballer currently playing for the Spanish giants Atletico Madrid. He plays as a defender and is considered as one of the most important players in the Colombian national set-up.

Luis Perea commenced his professional career at Independiente Medellín in 2000 and after 3 years was snapped up by Argentine giants Boca Juniors.

But after one season at Boca, Luis Pernia was signed by Spanish powerhouse Atletico Madrid and has been at the Vicente Calderon since 2004. He is noted for his speed and is a regular for Atletico.

Luis Perea made his debut for Colombia in 2003 and played for the South American nation in Copa America 2007. Perea has a Spanish passport too.
