Eric Abidal is a French international left-sided midfielder currently featuring for the Spanish and European giants FC Barcelona. He is rated as one of the best midfielders in European football and is a regular for the French national side.

Erid Abidal commenced his professional career with the French principality club of AS Monaco in September 2000. In his two seasons at Stade Louis II, Abidal featured in just 22 matches and was signed by Lille where he stayed again for only two seasons playing 62 matches in all competitions with distinction.

In the summer of 2004, Eric Abidal was signed by French powerhouse Olympique Lyonnais and it was at Lyon that Abidal transcended to a world class player. He actually played as a fullback for Lyon most of the time in his seasons at the club but earned accolade and attention from the entire football community.

He was signed by Catalan giants Barcelona in the summer of 2007 for 15 million euros on a four-year contract. He has been in and out of the first choice team at Cam Nou.

Erid Abidal made his international debut for France in August 2004. He has since featured in 31 more matches for the European nation and heavily featured in France’s road to the final in the 2006 Germany World Cup.
