Eidur Gudjohnsen fan club
Eidur Godjohnsen is an Icelandic football international who currently plays for the Spanish and European giants FC Barcelona. He usually plays as a striker although he can play equally well as midfielder.
Gudjohnsen is one of the very few renowned footballers from Iceland. He is the son of the former Icelandic international Arnor Gudjohnsen. Gudjohsen did feature for Dutch giants PSV Eidhoven in his early days but made his name with Bolton Wanderers in England in what is now known as the Football League Championship.
He played for Bolton for two seasons between 1998 and 2000, scoring 26 goals in 55 appearances and was signed by Chelsea in the summer of 2000 for a transfer fee of 4 million pounds. He enjoyed great years with the London club and formed a formidable partnership with Chelsea; Dutch international striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
In his six seasons at Stamford Bridge, Eidur Gudjohnsen scored a scintillating 78 goals in 204 matches in all competitions and was rated as one of the best strikers in the Premiership. He was signed by Catalan giants Barcelona in the summer of 2006 for 12 million euros.
But he has played the role of a utility substitute in his two seasons at Camp Nou and is supposedly on his way out of Barca at the end of the 2007-2008 season.
Gudjohnsen has been an Icelandic international since the year 1996 and is now the skipper of the national side. On April 24, 1996 he and his father constructed football history when they both featured in a friendly international against Estonia in Tallinn. Gudjohnsen came on a substitute in the send half for his father Arnor.
