Gonzalo Higuain

Gonzalo Gerardo Higuain is an Argentine-French striker who plays for the Spanish and European giants Real Madrid. Higuain is reputed as one of the best young strikers in the modern game and graduated from the famous River plate youth academy.

Higuain was actually born in France when his father Jorge Higuain was playing in French Ligue 1 for Brest. Having left France when he was just 10 months old, Higuain returned to the European nation in 1998 and held a French passport. But in January 2007, he successfully applied for an Argentine passport due to which his French nationality has been annulled.

Gonzalo Higuain played three seasons for River plate from 2004-2007, scoring 14 goals in 33 appearances and was signed by Real Madrid in January 2007 for 13 million euro. He was an instant hit at the Santiago Bernabeu under then coach Fabio Capello and helped Real to their 30th La Liga triumph in the 2007-2008 season.

Gonzalo Higuain has been unable to decide which country to represent in the internationals for much of the time since he had the option to play for either France or Argentina. But he now has chosen Argentina although he is yet to officially play for the South American giants.
