Christoph Metzelder is a German international central defender who currently features for the Spanish and European giants Real Madrid. He reached the final of the 2002 World Cup with Germany and was voted as the “Best Player Under the Age of 23”.

Metzelder is a 6’4” central defender and is strong in the air. He is reputed to be one of the best defenders in the word and that is the precise reason why Real Madrid signed him on a free transfer at the end of the 20o6-2007 season.

Metzelder has struggled with injuries in the 2007-2008 season and has made a meager number of appearances for the Merengues this season. There are rumours that Metzelder could be on his move out of the Bernabeu in the summer of 2008.

Cristoph Metzelder commenced his playing career with the little known German club Preußen Münster in the 1999-2000 season and after one season as signed by Borussia Dortmund for whom he made a staggering 126 appearances in 7 years.

Metzelder received his international call for Germany in 2001 and has made 39 appearances for his nation.
