David Josué Jiménez Silva is a young Spanish international midfielder currently playing for the Spanish first division side Valencia CF. Silva has always been touted to become one of the best medios in the world and at Valencia he has certainly enhanced his reputation.

The most noteworthy point of his football is his versatilty,. He can play on the right or on he left and can even play in the hole behind the striker. He has also played as a striker in his time at Valencia.

Silva is a graduate of the famed Valencia academy although he didn’t make the cut into the first team directly. Instead he was loaned out to little known SD Eibar at the start of the 2004-2005 season where he made 35 appearances and scored 5 goals.

Next season, that is the 2005-2006 season, Silva was loaned out again, this time to Celta de Vigo and it was in Galicia that Silva finally blossomed and exhibited his massive class and quality. He could only score just 4 goals in 31 matches for Celta but he impressed everyone who cared to watch him and the very next season he was recalled to Valencia.

He has since been a regular at the Mestalla so much so that he even replaced Pablo Aimar at the club, thereby attesting that he possesses mature head on young shoulders. Villa signed a 7-year contract with Valencia in the summer of 2007 but it now appears that he would have to be sold as Valencia are fighting relegation this season and a massive revamp of the side is expected in the summer of 2008.

Villa is also a regular member of the Spanish national side and made his debut against Romania in June 2006.
