Andrew Griffin

Andrew “Andy” Griffin is an English football player who currently features for the English Premier League club Stoke City. He plays as a full back and is the captain of Stoke.

Andy Griffin started his professional club career at Stoke City in 1996 and established himself in two years there, scoring 2 goals in 57 league appearances as a wing back. He was signed by Newcastle United in January 1998 for 1.5 million pounds but he was not so successful for them.

Griffin did quickly settle into the first team at Newcastle and played in the UEFA Champions League for the Geordies in the 2002-2003 season. He featured in 78 Premier League matches for Newcastle between 1998 and 2004.

Andy Griffin moved to Portsmouth in 2004 on a free transfer and played for them for three seasons, although he was on loan at Stoke City for the 2006-2007 season. He featured in 43 Premier League matches for Portsmouth and played for Derby County in the Premier League for the 2007-2008 season.

Andy Griffin was signed by Stoke City in January 2008 on a four-and-a-half-year contract for 300,000 pounds. He has since become a regular for Stoke.
