Maximiliano Rubén Rodríguez, better known as Maxi Rodriguez, is an established Argentine international currently playing for the Spanish giants Atletico Madrid. He actually captains Atletico and also holds dual citizenship:Argentinian and Italian.

Maxi Rodriguez is a product of Newell Old Boys' youth academy and played for the Argentine giant for three seasons before moving to Spain on a permanent basis to Espanyol Barcelona in 2002.

Maxi became one of best players in Spain at Espanyol. He expressed his versatality to play either as a winger or as midfielder and was snapped by Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2005 for 7 million euros.

He developed further at Atletico Madrid and now skippers the Rojiblancos.

Maxi is also a firmly established Argentine international player and has been in the Argentine set-up since 2003. He played for Argentina in the 2005 Confederations Cup and also in the 2006 Germany World Cup. He won the 2001 World Youth Championship with the Argentina Under-20 team.
