Jankovic was born on the 28th of May, 1985 at Belgrade, Serbia where she is also residing at present. Jankovic is a well-fit tennis player who is 5 feet 9 ½ inches tall who weighs 130 pounds.

Up to date, her career highlights 5 titles for singles, 289 matches won and accumulative prize money for singles amounting to $879,698.00 and a total of $4,256,168.00 career prize!

Among her other achievements include the September 2007 when she was named UNICEF National Ambassador to Serbia. Most Improved Player in 2006 was also awarded to her. She was also hailed the 2004 Tennis Player of the Year in Serbia and in Yugoslavia as Junior Sports Girl of the Year. For doubles, she ranks at 139th. For over 400 career matches, she only has at least 161 losses.

Jelena turned pro in the year 2000 at the age of 15. She is regarded as one of the few the tough female tennis players for her tremendous defensive abilities and great footwork. She is one of the few players who can slide on all surfaces. Her two-handed backhand down the line is her signature shot. Jelena’s best singles grand slams are: 2007 semifinalist at Roland Garros and 2006 US Open. She is also part of the Serbian Fed Cup Team in 2001 through 2005 and in 2007 to 2008; Serbia and Montenegro Olympic Team of 2004.
