Saeed Anwar fan club

Saeed Anwar was an opening batsman who was able to provide electrifying starts by means of graceful strokeplay. His forte was impressive timing and placement. His favorite shot was a drive on the off side with minimum amount of footwork. If the bowler offered any width outside off stump, Anwar used to punish him. At the same time, he frequently guided the ball straight into the fourth slip or gully.

Initially, he became famous as a one day specialist. However, with time, he attained an equal amount of success in Test cricket also. As he was prone to injuries, his fielding was not much reliable. As his career drew to a close, his footwork became less assured. In August 2001, due to the death of his daughter, he was coerced to take a break from the game. When he finally returned, he was a lesser force, but he managed to score a century against India in the 2003 World Cup.

Career Highlights

Saeed Anwar played in 247 ODIs in which he accrued 8824 runs at a batting average of 39.21 and batting strike rate of 80.67. His highest score was 194.
