Vito Mannone started his development at the youth academy of the Italian side Atalanta and joined the Arsenal set-up in the summer of 2005 after the Gunners paid Atalanta a compensation fee of 350,000 pounds since the player hadn’t signed a professional contract with the club.
Mannone was sent out on loan for experience to Barnsley in August 2006 for three months and after suffering a knee injury he was recalled to the Gunners in October.
Vito Mannone has yet to make a first team appearance for the Gunners although he did make he bench for against Reading in a Premiership match in April 2008. In December 2007 he had signed a long term contract with Arsenal.
