Theo James Walcott is a teenage English football player who currently features for the Premiership giants Arsenal. He plays as a striker and featured for England in the 2006 Germany World Cup.
Theo Walcott developed at the youth academy at Southampton and at 15 years and 175 days became the youngest person to play in the Southampton reserve team when he came off the bench against Watford in September 2004.
Walcott made his first team debut away at Leeds United in October 2005 and scored his first senior goal for Southampton in the same game.
Arsenal then came swooping and signed Theo Walcott in January 2006 for an initial fee of 5 million pounds, rising to a possible 12 million pounds, based on appearances for club and country, making him the most expensive 16-year old in the history of British football. But it wasn’t until March 16,2006, the player’s 17th birthday, that he could sign a professional contract worth a reported 1 million pounds a year.
Theo Walcott made is debut for Arsenal in August 2006 against Aston Villa as a second half substitute. Although he was sparingly used in the 2006-2007 season and mostly came off the bench in matches, he was more pronounced in the 2007-2008 season and exhibited his versatility to play as a striker and as a right sided midfielder.
Theo Walcott was part of the England squad for the 2006 Germany World Cup but did not play any match. He has since featured in two international friendlies for his nation.
