Juan Antonio Guzman was born on August 21, 1951 in Santiago, Dominican Republic. With a height of 5 feet and 5 inches tall, he was then better known as the “little foreman”. He was very much fund of using the Orthodox boxing stance when he would be on matches.

Even if he was a little bit short in height, Guzman was very much well regarded with a five inch reach advantage and was said to have an above power average. His speed and agility made him very popular in his field, and because of this he has then become the favorite of the crowd during his matches. The “little foreman” of the boxing world had a total of 34 fights with a professional record of 26-8, 20 wins by KO.

His speed and agility did not just make him popular, but it helped him grab the WORLD BOXING ASSOCIATION (WBA) Light Flyweight Champion. He went against the reigning title holder Jaime Rios of Panama and was able to grab the title during the match that was dated way back July 2, 1976.

He may have successfully grabbed the title from Jaime Rios, but he didn’t stand a chance against the Japanese boxer Yoko Gushiken. Yoko Gushiken was able to win the match when he gave Guzman a knockout during the seventh round and went home with the title of being the Light Flyweight Champion in October 10, 1976.
