Wide receiver Steve Smith was the 52nd pick overall in the 2007 NFL Draft. He was taken by the New York Giants in the second-round after playing his college football for the University of Southern California (USC).

In college, he was named an All-American in 2006 by CBS Sportsline and a First-team All-Pac 10 (2006). In 2006, his teammates voted him USC's MVP. He was a member of the 2007 New York Giants Super Bowl XLII Championship team.

In his first season with the Giants, the wideout appeared in five games, grabbing eight balls for 65 yards. He made four first downs and had no touchdowns. At five-foot-eleven and 197 pounds, Smith is undersized for the NFL, which could limited his playing time. He's also not as speedy as many defenders, which could certainly hurt him. As a player, Smith possesses fine focus and soft hands. He moves well, using his balance and smooth moves to allude tacklers. His routes are clean and sharp. Off the line, he has a hefty initial burst, and he utilizes his quickness to create separation between himself and defenders. Because he is undersized, durability is an issue as is his ability to block.
