Sam Madison is a cornerback for the NFL's New York Giants. He was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 1997 after playing for the University of Louisville from 1993-1996. Madison, who was selected in the second round, was the 44th choice overall.
While at Louisville, he set numerous school records, including most career Pass Break Ups or Pass Defends (44) and the record for most career interceptions. His pass interception record has since been broken.
Madison played with the Dolphins from 1997-2005 and then signed with the New York Giants in 2006. He's been selected to the Pro Bowl four times and was a member of the Giants 2007 Super Bowl XLII Championship team.
Although he's lost a step or two over the years due to age and injuries, Madison is a smart player with excellent technique. He uses his hands well and has fine speed, allowing him to keep stride with receivers. His balance and agility allow him to keep receivers off kilter. The cornerback can also blitz from the edge, using his fine timing and quickness. Professionally in 166 games, he has 61 pass defends, 37 interceptions, 11 forced fumbles and 470 tackles (403 solo).
