Osi Umenyiora plays defensive end for the NFL's New York Giants. The Giants drafted the British born football player, who played for Troy State, in 2003 in the second-round. He was the 56th pick overall.
Umenyiora is a two-time Pro Bowl pick and a one-time All-Pro. He holds the Giants record for most sacks in a game—six. He was a member of New York's 2007 Super Bowl XLII Championship team. In five seasons and 72 games, the DE has recorded 231 tackles (167 solo) and 41.5 sacks. He's also forced 14 fumbles.
The six-foot-three, 261-pound end is a fine athlete possessing better than average strength, power and size. He's got a good initial burst and fine range. He can shoot the gap or neutralize defenders by rushing from the outside and is effective in pursing, pressuring and bring down quarterbacks. Umenyiora, who shows well-disciplined technique, utilizes his hands and feet nicely in keeping opposing linemen off balance. He changes direction quickly and possesses fine lateral movement, adjusting quickly to changing situations. His instincts are excellent. After five seasons, he's shown marked improvement and should continue to become an even better player.
