Manuel Delcarmen, called Manny, was born on February 16, 1982 in Boston, Massachusetts.

A relief pitcher, Manny is 6'2", weighs 205 pounds, and bats and throws right.

High School
Manny is a native of the Hyde Park section of Boston. He graduated from West Roxbury High School.

Minor Leagues
Manny was a second-round draft pick (62th pick overall) by Boston in 2000 -- the first draftee from a Boston public high school in 34 years.

He began the season at Double-A Portland, and posted a 4-4 record with three saves and a 3.23 ERA in 31 games. He was then promoted to AAA Pawtucket, where he struck out 12 with a 3.00 ERA over nine innings.

In 2005, Delcarmen was called up to the major leagues for 10 games. He pitched 9 innings with a 3.00 ERA and 9 strikeouts. After starting the 2006 season back in Pawtucket, Manny was recalled to the major leagues on April 22, 2006.

In 2001, he pitched for the GCL Redsox (Gulf Coast League
In 2002 he pitched for Augusta in the South Atlantic League (SAL)
From 2003 -2004 he pitched for Sarasota in the Florida State League.
In 2005 he pitched for Portland in the Eastern league, as well as for Pawtucket in the International League, and a brief stint in the majors.
In 2006 and 2007 he continued to pitch for Pawtucket.

Major Leagues
Mannny continued to bounce up and down from the minor to the major leagues in 2006 and 2007. He has been on the roster all of the 2008 season.
