Roger Federer was born on n August 8, 1981 in Base Switzerland. His interest on striking balls using a racket started at an early age; basically just for fun until he joined a tennis club called “Old Boys” from his hometown. Not just with Tennis, he also loves other sports such as soccer but he solely dedicated himself on tennis. Federer trained for several years under the private supervision of Peter Carter of Australia from 1991 to 1995.
Later on, Federer made his debut playing for his country with Swiss Davis Cup team on 1999. At the age of 14, he was given the title as the Swiss Junior tennis champ and at 16 he became the ITF World Junior tennis champion. What is more amazing is that he won a lot of trophies even without the support of a coach for many years. Federer kicked off 2005 holding to the top spot in the ATP ranking.
Federer is a versatile tennis pro, an excellent baseliner and a skillful volleyer. With an extreme grip, his groundstrokes are precise from both wings. He plays with a solid one-handed backhand and can let off forceful topspin winning shots.
Federer won 12 grand slam single titles. Three wins in the Australian Open, five in Wimbledon, and four wins in the US Open. He also brought home four Tennis Master Cup Titles and 14 ATP Master Series Titles. Federer ranked World No.1 for a record of 225 consecutive weeks. In the year 2008, he was again named Laureus World Sportsman of the Year for four consecutive times.
