Wesley Britt plays offensive line for the NFL's New England Patriots. Chosen in round five of the NFL's 2005 draft, he was the 164th pick overall. The San Diego Chargers drafted him out of the University of Alabama.
In his first season at Alabama, Britt was redshirted. At Alabama he started 46 games in 2001, 2002 and 2004. He missed the last four games of his junior season with a broken leg. The Associate Press chose him as a third-team All-American, and he was selected to the first team All-Southeastern Conference.
As a professional, Britt was signed by the Chargers and released by the team on September 4, 2005. The Patriots signed him to their practice squad the next day and he was placed on their active roster on January 30, 2006. In 2006 and 2007, the offensive tackle played in a total of 13 games. At times, he played tight end and on special teams.
