When Nikos Zisis was 17 years old, he started his professional basketball career by joining the Greek League team AEK Athens BC. In 2001, he was a winner of the Greek Cup and in 2002, he won the Greek championship. He was the recipient of the Greek League Young Player of the Year award. Zisis was a member of AEK Athens BC from 2000 to 2005. From 2005 to 2007, he represented Benetton Treviso, an Italian League team. During the year 2006, he won the Italian Championship and the Italian Super Cup. In the next year (2007), he won the Italian Cup. Further, he left Italy and shifted to Moscow. He signed a contract of 3 years with CSKA Moscow, the Russian League team, on 13th June 2007. During the Euroleague 2007-08 season, he won the Euroleague Championship along with CSKA.

Zisis was a winner of the Silver medal at the 1999 FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship, when he was a member of the junior national team of Greece. During the 2001 Albert Schweitzer tournament, he was chosen as an All Star.

At the 2005 European Championship, Zisis was the leading scorer for Greece and averaged 10.6 points per game. Due to his excellent performance in this tournament, he was selected the FIBA Europe Young Player of the Year of age less than 22.

Career Highlights

In the 2005 Serbia & Montenegro European Championships, Zisis won the Gold medal for Greece. He won the Silver medal in the 2006 Japan FIBA World Championships.
