Johan Djourou is a young Swiss international football player who currently features for the Premiership giants Arsenal. He is a versatile player who can plays as a defensive midfielder, a central defender or as a full back.

Johan Djourou was born in Ivory Coast to native parents and was later adopted by his father’s first wife Daniele, a Swiss woman. He joined Arsenal in 2003 and made his senior start for the Gunners in a 3-1 win over Everton in the Carling Cup.

He made his full Premiership debut for Arsenal in a 7-0 win over Middlesbrough in January 2006 and gradually began to play more games for the Gunners, in the Premiership, Cups and the UEFA Champions League. He was loaned out to Birmingham City for the 2007-2008 season and has been recalled to the Emirates for the 2008-2009 seaon.

Johan Djourou made his international debut for Switzerland in March 2006 against Scotland and features for his nation at the 2006 Germany World Cup.
