Jamanji ‘Jim’ Nathaniel Brown is an American football player who is also known for being a social activist and for his acting work. As a football player, Brown set records and has won multiple MVP Awards and gained several Pro-Bowl and All-Pro selections.

Brown was born in St. Simmons Island in Georgia on December 1936. His father, Swinton Brown was a professional boxer, while his mother Theresa Brown was a housekeeper. He attended the Manhasset High School. While there, he played football, lacrosse, basketball and baseball. He also ran track while he was in school. It was in High School that Brown became known in the football community.

He attended college in Syracuse and by the time he was a sophomore, he was already the school’s leading rusher. On his 3rd year, Brown managed to rush an impressive 666 yards. When he was a senior, Brown ran 986 yards and had 14 touchdowns. He was named first-team-All-American for his achievements in football as well as in lacrosse. Brown also excelled in other sports such as basketball.

In 1957, Brown was drafted by the Cleveland Browns. In his entire NFL career, he earned a rushing record of 12,312 yards, 106 rushing touchdowns and 126 total touchdowns. He also earned a total of 15,549 all purpose yards. He was the first player and one of the few to ever achieve 100 touchdowns. He also set the record for having reached 100 touchdowns in 93 games. It was surpassed by LaDainian Tomlinson in 2006. Tomlinson reach 100 in 89 games. For each season that Brown played, he was voted into the Pro-Bowl.

Brown retired from football in 1966. He then focused on his acting career. He also set up the Amer-I-Can foundation and serves as the group’s CEO today.
