Cristian Chivu

Cristian Eugen Chivu is a Romanian international footballer who cuurently features for the Italian giants Inter Milan. Chivu plays at centre-back and is reputed to be one of the best central defenders in the world.

Cristian Chivu started his playing career at Romanian side CSM Reşiţa in 1996 and was signed by Dutch giants AFC Ajax in 1999. He featured in 107 matches for Ajax until 2003 and was rated as one of the best young players in the world. He also skippered Ajax.

AS Roma signed Cristian Chivu in the summer of 2003 for a reported 18 million euros. Chivu was the rock for Roma at the back and played in 102 matches. He was signed by Inter Milan at the start of the 2007-2008 season for 16 million euros and settled himself easily at the heart of the Inter Milan defence and won the scudetto with the Nerazzurri.

Cristian Chivu is the current captain of Romania and made his debut for his national side in 1999. He has played over 50 matches for Romania and played in Euro 2000.
