Nani Luis Carlos Almeida da Cunha

Luis Carlos Almeida da Cunha, popularly known as Nani, is a Portuguese international footballer who currently features for the English and European powerhouse Manchester United. He is a winger but can also operate in central midfielder and is renowned for his crosses, flicks, tricks and passes as well as for his dribblings.

Nani commenced his footballing career at Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon(although he originally fostered affection towards Sporting’s arch rivals FC Porto) in 2005 after progressing through the youth academy of the club. He played for two seasons at the Estadio da Luz and in the summer of 2007 after making 58 league appearances and scoring 10 goals was signed by Manchester United for 17 million pounds on a five-year contract.

Nani played 26 league matches for United in the 2007-2008 season but most of them were off the bench. He also scored 3 goals in the Premier League and won both the Premiership and the UEFA Champions League with United in the 2007-2008 season.

Nani earned his first international cap for Portugal on September 1,2006 against Denmark in a friendly international and even scored in that match which Portugal lost. Nani was part of the Portugal squad for the Euro 2008 finals in Austria and Switzerland.
