Michael Carrick is an English football player who currently features for the Premier League and European giants Manchester United. He plays as a deep lying central midfielder.

Michael Carrick developed at the youth academy of Tottenham Hotspurs and made his debut for the senior side in 1998 and played for the Hammers since the summer of 2004. He made 136 league appearances for West Ham and scored 6 goals.

In the summer of 2004 after West Ham were relegated from the Premiership and moved to north London club Tottenham Hotspur and played for two seasons for Spurs and featured in 64 league matches, scoring 2 goals.

In the summer of 2006 Manchester United came calling and signed the player for a 14 million pound basic transfer fee which could potentially rise to 18.6 million pounds. He made his Premier League debut for United on August 23, 2006 against Charlton Atheltic as a substitute. He started almost every game for United in the 2006-2007 season although he started a bit slowly and was one of the best players for United as they won the Premier League title in 2007.

In the 2007-2008 season too, Carrick was also instrumental in leading the Red Devils to the Premiership and UEFA Champions League glory. Michael Carrick made his international debut for England in 2001 and was part of the England squad for the 2006 World Cup. He has played 13 international matches for England so far.
