Samuel Eto'o Fils is a Cameroonian international striker who currently features for the Spanish and European giants FC Barcelona. Eto'o is regarded as one of the best strikers in the world and is a complete player. He is a legend back home in Cameroon and Africa and holds the record of being the leading goalscorer in the history of the African Nations' Cup.
Samuel Eto'o commenced his football career in the highly acclaimed youth academy Real Madrid. He was drafted into the youth team in the year 1997 but he subsequently failed to cut the grades in the senior side. He was loaned out to fellow La Liga side Real Mallorca for two seasons starting in the middle of the 1999-2000 season and was signed on a permanent deal by the Islanders at the end of the 2000-2001 season for a club record transfer fee of 6.3 million dollars.
At Mallorca, Eto'o was, and still is, worshipped a hero. He scored a whooping 48 goals in 128 appearances for the club from 2000-2004, winning the Copa del Rey with Mallorca in 2003.
In the summer of 2004, Samuel Eto'o was signed by Catalan giants FC Barcelona for a jaw-dropping 24 million euros. He developed further at the Camp Nou cathedral and progressed to become one of the most feared strikers in the world.
