Ron Hainsey is an American defenseman on the Atlanta Thrashers.
Hainsey was drafted 13th overall in 2000, by Montreal. He played his college hockey at UMass-Lowell, and went on to play with the Canadiens’ AHL affiliates over the next five seasons, playing 21 games with Montreal in 2002. He joined the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2005, and emerged as one of the premier offensive defensemen in the NHL. In 2008, after posting 32 points in 78 games, he was one of the most highly coveted free agents, choosing to sign with Atlanta.
Hainsey has played for Team USA at the 1999 U18 tournament and the 2000 and 2001 World Junior Championships.
