Ricardo Alberto Silveira Carvalho is a Portuguese international footballer who currently features for the Premier League side Chelsea. He is a central defender and is a world class one too.
Ricardo Carvalho began his professional career at FC Porto in 1998 and played for them until the end of the 2003-2004 season, scoring 3 goals in 73 league matches. He won the Portuguese Superliga and the UEFA Champions League with FC Porto in the 2003-2004 season and was signed by Chelsea for almost 20 million pounds in the summer of 2004.
Ricardo Carvalho was an instant hit and a regular starter at Chelsea and helped the club win the Premiership titles in 2005 and 2006. He has played in over 100 league matches for Chelsea so far although there have been a few whispers on his future in the summer of 2008 whene many suggested that he was looking to join Inter Milan to be reunited with his former Porto and Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.
Carvalho made his international debut for Portugal in the summer of 2003 and has played in 42 matches so far for his nation. He played at Euro 2004, the 2006 Germany World Cup and the Euro 2008 finals. He is a regular centre back for Portugal.
