Michel Salgado

Michel Angel Salgado Fernandez is a Spanish international veteran who plays for the Spanish and European giants Real Madrid. Michel Salgado plays in the right back position and is considered as one of the best right backs ever to have played the game of football. He is mainly lauded for his attacking instincts.

Salgado is a native of the Galician city of Vigo and commenced is playing career at his hometown club Celta de Vigo after five seasons. He was signed by Real Madrid in the summer of 1999. Salgado has since been at the Santiago Bernabeu and has endeared himself to the Madridistas with his attacking approach, passionate tackles and consistent royalty to the club.

Salgado won the UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid in 1998 and 2000 and also La Liga on four occasions. In the 2007-2008 of course Salgado’s appearances for Real Madrid have been limited since younger players have replaced him in the club set-up.

Michel Salgado has played for the Spanish national team 53 times and represented his nation at Euro 2004 and World Cup 2006.
