William Gallas is French football player who plays defender and captain in Arsenal and also in France's national team. He prefers to lead from center defence but can also play full back on both sides.
Gallas started his football career at the Clairefontaine football academy and joined French team Caen after graduation in 1995. In 1997 he moved to Olympique Marseilles and spent four seasons in the team before Italian manager Ranieri brought him to Chelsea. In 2006 he refused to sign a new contract with Chelsea due to dissatisfaction of the contract terms and as a result transferred to Arsenal in a four-year contract.
