Bill Guerin is an American winger on the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Guerin was originally drafted 5th overall in 1989 by the New Jersey Devils. He joined the Devils in 1991, after playing two seasons at Boston College. He spent 7 seasons in New Jersey, winning a Stanley Cup there in 1995. He was traded to Edmonton in 1991, where he spent 4 seasons, before being traded to Boston in 2000. In Boston, during the 2001-02 season, he set a career high with 41 goals. He was traded to Dallas in 2002, where he became a fan favorite, and had the best season of his career in 2003-04, recording 35 assists and 69 points. He was signed by St. Louis in 2006, but was traded to San Jose at the trade deadline the same season. He then signed with New York in the 2007 offseason, where he was named team captain. Guerin has made a solid career out of being a physical forward with a touch around the net. Guerin was traded to the Penguins in 2009, and played a crucial role in the Penguins' Stanley Cup victory that season. He scored 12 points for the Penguins in the last 17 games of the season, and added 15 more in the postseason.
Guerin has been a frequent member of Team USA, playing at a number of international competitions, including all 3 Winter Olympics that have allowed professional hockey players to participate, winning a silver medal in 2002. He also won a gold medal at the 1996 World Cup.
