Hejduk was drafted in 1994, when the Avalanche still played in Quebec. He never played in Quebec, playing 3 more seasons in the Czech Extraliga before joining Colorado in 1998. Hejduk quickly became one of the top offensive performers on the Avalanche, winning the Rocket Richard trophy in 2003 for scoring the most goals of any NHL player that season, with 50. He was part of the Avalanche’s 2001 Stanley Cup winning team. He recently reached the career milestone of 300 goals and 600 NHL points.
Hejduk has played for the Czech Republic at 5 international competitions, winning a gold medal at the ’98 Winter Olympics and a bronze medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics.
