Darius Vassell is an English football player born to Jamaican parents who currently features for the English Premier League club Manchester City. He is a striker although he can play on wide positions too.
Darius Vassell started his career at Midlands side Aston Villa. He supported Villa as a boy and after progressing through the club’s youth academy made his debut for the senior side in 1997. He would go onto play 162 Premier League matches for Villa, but could score only 35 goals.
Darius Vassell was signed by Manchester City in July 2005 for 2 million pounds and he went onto score 8 goals in 35 league appearances in the 2005-2006 season. He struggled in the 2006-2007 season. He however recovered in the 2007-2008 season.
Darius Vassell made his international debut for England in February 2002 against the Netherlands in a 1-1 draw. He went onto make a total of 22 appearances for his nation and featured at the 2002 World Cup and Euro 2004, where he missed his kick in the penalty shoot-out defeat to Portugal in the quarter-finals.
