Joseph “Joe John Cole is an England international footballer who currently features for the English Premier League side Chelsea. He is a midfielder who can play on either wings and is known for his tricks, flicks, dribbles, passes and ball distribution.
Joe Cole always supported West Ham United as a boy and made his debut for the club in 1998 after coming through the club’s youth academy. He played for the Hammers until the summer of 2003 and scored 10 goals in 128 league appearances. In his last season at West Ham(2002-2003), he was given the captain’s armband when he was just 21 years of age but at the end of the season West Ham got releated and Cole switched to Chelsea as he needed to develop his career.
Joe Cole was signed by Chelsea from West Ham for 6.6 million pounds but had to struggle to get into the first as there was loads of competition for places. But under Jose Mourinho, Joe Cole gradually came to the fore and began to improve his all-round game and became as much effective as technical. His best season was the 2007-2008 season in which he could start regularly after his competitor for the left wing position Arjen Robben was sold to Real Madrid in the summer of 2007. He has played over 150 matches in all competitions for Chelsea.
Joe Cole made his international debut for England in 2001 and has played 50 matches so far for his nation. He was part of the England squad at the 2002 World Cup, Euro 2004 and the 2006 Germany World Cup.
