Jason Richardson fan club
Anthony Jason Richardson is a professional basketball player from the United States of America and plays as a shooting guard. Richardson attended the Michigan State University and helped the team win the NCAA championships along with other future NBA stars on his team. He was picked by the Golden State Warriors as part of the 2001 NBA Draft, at 5th overall.
At the Warriors, Jason came into his own and was part of the Rookie Challenge in 2002 and 2003. In 2002, he won the Rookie Challenge MVP award and helped his team win both times. Wonderful scoring touch and dedication to the team helped him become a great captain for the Warriors and Jason became one of the most endearing players for the fans of Golden State. When the Warriors failed to make the Playoffs for the 12th year running, he wrote an apology letter to the fans that was carried in all dailies. The next year, he guided the Warriors into the Playoffs and although the Warriors beat the top-seeded Dallas Mavericks, they lost out in the next round to the Utah Jazz.
Richardson set a franchise record with the Warriors when he scored 8 from behind the arc, without missing. Also known for his high-flying antics, Jason won the 2002 and 2003 NBA Slam Dunk Championships to become only the second player to do so in consecutive years, after Michael Jordan.
In 2007, Richardson came to the Charlotte Bobcats mainly for financial reasons as the Warriors needed to lose one of their two high-salary team players. Richardson, $11 million a year was chosen to leave over Baron Davies, $16 million a year. Davis left a year later himself, to join the LA Clippers. At the Bobcats, Richardson led them to a five-game winning streak, a franchise record and in the process beat his former team by scoring 42 points in a game. He averaged 21.8 points per game and led the league in 3-pointers.
In December 2008, Richardson, along with Jared Dudley, came to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Boris Diaw, Raja Bell and Sean Singletary.
