Eldrick Tont Woods, more popularly known as Tiger Woods, is an American professional golfer whose accomplishments make him one of the most successful golfers of all time. Born in December 30, 1975, TIger Woods got his nickname after a Vietnamese soldier who was his father's friend in Vietnam. Tiger showed talent in golf as early as 5 years old, where he was featured in a golf magazine.

He is the current World No. 1 in golf, and was branded as the highest paid athlete in 2007, with earnings of about 122 million dollars from endorsements and winnings. According to GOlf Digest magazine, Woods made 769 million dollars from 1996 to 2007, and probably will reach a billion dollars in earnings by 2010.

With bountiful earnings, Tiger Woods has an equally bountiful record. Woods has won 14 major golf championships to date, which is the second highest of any male player, and 65 PGA Tour events, which is ranked third all time. Woods has more career wins and career PGA Tour wins than any other active golfer. He is the youngest player to achieve the career Grand Slam which means winning all the golf's major championships in the same calendar year. He is also the fastest and youngest ever to win 50 tournaments on tour.

Recently, he has finished 1st on the 2008 PGA Tour 4 times. For 2008 alone, he won the Buick Invitational, World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship, and the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard. In the June 2008 U.S. Open Championship, Tiger Woods captured his 65th career victory and 14th major championship with his win on 108th U.S open. Tiger Woods continues to be a dominant force in the world of golf. Fans can expect him to add more wins for many years to come.
