Alex Blackwell

Alex Blackwell is a Right handed batsman and an occasional Right arm medium bowler with the Australian Women’s Cricket team. She has also played for the New South Wales and the Otago Women’s cricket teams. Alex Blackwell is the twin sister of cricketer Kate Blackwell.

After captaining the New South Wales under 19 team to the Australian Championships in 2001, Blackwell made her debut in International cricket in a One day International match against the England Women’s team at Lincoln in 2003. Unfortunately she did not get a chance to bowl or bat as Australia won the match by 7 wickets. The same year a month later, Blackwell played her first International test match against England at Brisbane. Blackwell bowled 11 overs including 6 maiden overs and gave away just 9 runs in the first innings. Coming on to bat she could only score 4 runs in 14 balls and was caught by Laura Harper off a ball by Laura Newton. In the second innings she remained not out at 9 runs after facing 85 balls as Australia went on to win the match by 5 wickets. She also showcased a notable performance in the 2005 Women’s Word Cup with 53 runs in a qualifier match against New Zealand.

In a total of 47 One day Internationals, she has scored 914 runs with a high score of 101 runs and an average of 30.46. She has also claimed 6 wickets and taken 12 catches in One day International matches. Blackwell has played 6 test matches and scored 157 runs with a high score of 58 runs.
