Steven “Steve” Simonsen is an English football player who currently features for the English Premier League clubs Stoke City. He plays as a goalkeeper.

Steve Simonsen commenced his footballing career at Tranmere Rovers in 1996 and played for them for two seasons, playing in 35 league matches. Simonsen grew up as a Sunderland supporter.

In 1998 Premiership side Everton signed Simonsen for a record breaking transfer fee of 3.3 million pounds. Although Simonsen arrived at the Goodison as a young and promising young custodian, he failed to thread into the first eleven and in six years could manage a measly 30 Premier League matches.

In 2004 Stoke City signed Steve Simonsen on a free transfer and he has been a regular for Stoke since then, featuring in over 150 league matches for Stoke. In the 2006-2007 season, Simonsen became the record holder for most consecutive clean sheets at Stoke (seven).

Steve Simonsen signed a new contract with Stoke City in July 2007 that shall keep him at the club until June 2010. He is a regular for Stoke in the Premier League in the 2008-2009 season.
