Scott Gomez plays centre in the New Jersey Devils since 1999. He was drafted by the team in 1998. Born by a Mexcian-American father and a Colombian-American mother he was the first latino in the NHL. He scored 70 points in his first NHL season and won the Calder Trophy for best rookie and played in the NHL All-Star Game. The team went to the playoffs where Gomez scored 10 points and helped the team secure the Stanley Cup. During the 2006/07 season Gomez scored 60 points to help put the Devils back in the playoffs.
