D.J. Trahan

Donald Roland Trahan, Jr. was the youngest golf player, 13 years old then, to win a round at the 1994 US junior amateur match play. He reached the match plays in four straight years. He finally reached the final eight in 1996 and the Final 16 in 2002. Donald was also in the three-time selection at the Dorman High, Spartanburg and won the state title in 1998 and 1999 at the same time an active member of the Lewis Terry’s Dorman team.

D.J, as what he is fondly called by many, was born on December 18, 1980 in Atlanta, Canada. He came from a family of golfers considering that his father, Don, is a professional player in Greenville, SC as well and played in US Senior Open in 2001. His father made 13 holes while D.J. made only one.

Donald attended Hilton Island High School then joined Clemson University taking up recreation and parks administration, wherein he was actively part of the Academic Honor Roll. Aside from golf he also loves to play baseball. In fact, he was selected the player of the year together with player Khalil Greene at Clemson in 2001 and 2002.

Donald achieved the 2000 U.S. Amateur Public Links. He also represented the United States in 2001 in the Walker Cup and earned the Eisenhower Trophy in 2002. With his consistent achievement he finally became a professional in 2003 and after a year went full time to join the Nationwide Tour winning the final full-field at the Miccosukee Championship.

Donald was awarded the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year in 2005. He won the 2006 PGA Title at the Southern Farm Bureau Classic, an alternate event of the WGC- American Express Championship, which was so far his first. On January 20, 2008, he won his second event at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic defeating Justin Leonard by three strokes. He eventually advanced to the top 100 position in the Official World of Golf Rankings.
