Anthony Davidson has come from a country that has made many prestigious contributions, in the form of drivers, to the Formula One stage. Like almost everyone else in the sport, Davidson also started his career in a Kart. He won the British Karting Championships before moving graduating to a more serious form of racing, the Formula Ford Series.
In 1999, he was crowned champion of the Formula Ford Zetec Winter Series as well as the Champion of the Formula Ford Festival. In the year 2000, he repeated his feat in the Formula Ford Zetec Championships and his feats led McLaren AutoSport to name the youngster as their 'Young Driver of the Year'.
He moved up to the prestigious British Formula3 series for the 2001 season. He finished second in the season and impressed a majority of the sporting community, thus getting a chance to test for the BAR team as well.
In 2002, his duties were changing as from a test driver for BAR, he turned into a Formula1 race driver for Minardi. He continued his test driving work for the BAR team through the year as well. In 2003, after two seasons that involved a lot of testing, he moved to the American Le-Mans series. He turned out no the tracks for the ProDrive Racing team and got a reasonable amount of success at the sport. He went back to being a test driver with BAR in 2004 after Jenson Button started making waves in the Drivers' Championships.
Although the two incidents, Button's emergence and his return, were unrelated, the move worked out in his favour as he got the chance to make his debut when Takuma Sato was injured at the Sepang Grand Prix, in 2005. BAR became Honda Racing but Davidson's fortunes didn't change. He continued to remain a test driver for BAR in 2006 without getting any chance to see any action.
His testing career finally ended when he shifted to Super Aguri in 2007, alongside Takuma Sato. Although he became a full time race driver, he was unable to pick up points throughout the season. Said to be an extremely talented driver, Davidson will be looking to change that fact in 2008 as he, once again, takes to the track with the Japanese team.
