Brandon Dawayne Roy was born on July 23, 1984, in Seattle, Washington. He plays both shooting guard and point guard for the Portland Trail Blazers.
High School
Brandon attended Garfield High School in Seattle. He was considered by many to be the state's best high school player. He was an early entry candidate for the 2002 NBA Draft straight out of high school, but withdrew his name before the draft.
College
Brandon attended the University of Washington, and spent four years there playing for the Washington Huskies, under coach Lorenzo Romar.
NBA
Brandon was selected sixth in the 2006 NBA Draft, and had an immediate impact on the club... winning the NBA Rookie of the Year Award in a near-unanimous vote. He played 57 games as a rookie and averaged 16.8 points per game in the 2006-07 season.
In the first half of 2007–08, Brandon continued his rise with the Trail Blazers. He was selected as a reserve to the 2008 NBA All-Star Game, but ended up playing in the game the most of any Western Conference player, and tied for most points scored.
Brandon injured his right ankle in the final game before the All Star break. Although he played well during that game, subsequent games saw a fall off in performance. After the season, Brandon had surgery on the ankle. He is expected to be on the starting roster for the Trail Blazers first game of the 2008/2009 season.
Personal
Brandon's fiancee, Tiana Bardwell, delivered their first child, Brandon Jr., on March 27, 2007 in Seattle.
