Elgin Baylor was a professional basketball player playing as a Small Forward with the Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association. He wore the number 22 jersey and stood 6 feet 5 inches tall weighing at 225 lbs.

Elgin Baylor did his schooling from the Springarn High School in Washington, D.C. He later attended the Seattle University and played for the college basketball team then known as the Seattle University Chieftains. In 1958, Baylor was drafted by the Minneapolis Lakers in the National Basketball Association and was soon named as the Rookie of the Year. When the team shifted from Minneapolis to Los Angeles to become the Los Angeles Lakers, Baylor was a part of the team. He led the team to the NBA finals a total of eight times however the Lakers failed to win the finals all the times. Baylor was pestered by knee injuries and in 1972 he retired from playing basketball. After retirement in 1986, Baylor was named as the Vice President of the Los Angeles Lakers.

In a total of 846 games that he played in the NBA, Baylor averaged at 27.4 points per game, 4.3 assists per game and 13.5 rebounds per game.
